1 hour 46 minutes descending from summit of Cook Hill to summit of Cooks Point 574
19 minutes descending from summit of Cooks Point 574 to Highway 14 at Dog Creek
Our parking spot on Highway 14 at Dog Creek. Our route up is directly above the truck.
The first few hundred vertical feet were pretty steep.
A crumbly basalt cliff band. For such a short trip, there was a variety of terrain.
A mossy meadow above the cliff band.
Lungwort lichen
On the summit of Cook Hill. The west side was a grassy meadow, the east side was forested.
I love this old doug fir.
We passed through a few stands of scrub oak.
Peek-a-boo view of our second destination, Cooks Point 574. There is a deer barely visible on the left side of the meadowed slope.
Passing a lone pine (visible in the previous picture) on the upper slope of Cooks Point 574. This little peak was a worthy destination in itself.
Back at the Dog Creek parking area.
