Whiskey Dick Mountain loop
As it rained in the Cascades we hiked in the sun in the Whiskey Dick
Mountain area on a collection of gravel roads, trail, and
cross-country. There were almost no trees unless you count forests of
wonderful smelling sage brush, some were taller than I am. There
were scattered patches of flowers, the most beautiful were the
hedgehog cactus and the cheerful, yellow flowers whose name I don't
know. The "trail" up the Whiskey Dick Creek valley seemed hardly more
than a game path, but the terrain is so open that you hardly need a
trail. All in all a nice change from the Cascades.
We encountered a couple ticks.
