Rooster Mountain via Quartz Creek Road Trail
Summary: we took Taylor River trail -> Quartz Creek road-trail ->
Rooster Mountain road-trail (not shown on USGS, shown on Green Trail) ->
around 3,520 feet where the Rooster Mountain road-trail turns sharply right
and an older alder-covered road continues forward we followed the
older road -> we soon abandoned the old road and headed cross-country
to the pass -> from the pass we went a short distance west to a small
4,515 foot peak -> from there we went east up the ridge to Rooster Mountain
(5,280 feet) -> then down south ridge to coll -> down valley ->
Rooster Mountain road-trail.
Peak 4515 has a lake very near the top, completely frozen over now.
The peak of Rooster Mountain is fantastic, it has 15 feet of rock jutting
out of the very top, you can climb to the top of the rock to get to
views of Mowitch Lake and Marten Lake (both partially frozen). It's a
full 360 degree view, if it hadn't been so cloudy we would have had
great views.
